Was it just me who had that sinking despair watching Haller replace Antonio?

Yes it was. Especially as Yarmolenko replaced Antonio. When Haller came on with 20 minutes left he looked really lazy and uninterested when he was back defending in our own box and heading away a dangerous ball. If only he smiled everything would be okay.

Be better off going back to basics and mugging all the technology off, accept that mistakes will happen but they’ll balance out in the long run. Certainly for the paying punter, and make referees accountable in the background away from the public eye

Their player slide tackles Antonio in the area, gets the man first, clear foul when watched on replays.

Balbuena slide tackles, clearly wins the ball, foul gets given and he is booked.

Why are we wasting time with VAR if it's not correcting ALL errors?

Agree totally on the offside element. The offside rule came in to stop 'goal hanging'. It is as simple as that, so in my opinion a player should be offside if his body is closer to the opponents goal than his opponent. Clear daylight between the two solves any dispute. Same with this not interfering with play, coming back from an offside position and phase of play.

If an attacking player is goal hanging, offside.

aoi, there's a big difference between a counter attacking team and one that just parks the bus. Look back over the last few years and you'll see how we've struggled against that type of team.

I was a bit disappointed at the end which is a great sign. It’s far better than 22-1.

I loved the way Arthur owned Walker to the point he had to be subed. Enjoyable stuff!!! What I find bit odd is that Manu didn´t get a sniff of the game. Fornals wasn´t that great to be indispensable, was he?

I don;t know what's more funny, the fact that tragic, triggered little cunt is offended by anything and everything or your white knight act on his behalf.

Yeh, Well played West Ham. Deserved the point.

And well played Hammers United AGAIN! Great show and good all round (the place) performance. Good turn out to get the momentum going again.
Roll on the next ones! ⚒

Yarmalenko. I had to check he wasn’t wearing a Manchester City top.

I think the main confusion is what VAR is meant to look at and then possibly influence. You'll often hear a co-commentator (who don't have a clue) say 'var may well look at that' when in fact no it won't as it doesn't look at everything, or maybe it does, who knows? What's the benchmark?

Also find it mildly amusing that some don't know if to refer to var as a person or as a piece of technology.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread
Agree with Manuel, its a farce and every week they fuck it up, not just our game but Sheffield United got a penalty for fuck all, yet Chelsea were denied one, even though Maguire had a Chelsea player in all but a head lock!

Seems since its introduction it’s caused more controversy and division of opinion, every week it’s the main talking point of a fair few games, the fucking VAR decision!

Whats the fucking point in having it?

Nobody understands it. It's a total farce.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread
Offside with VAR has nothing to do with clear & obvious
It’s supposedly a matter of ‘fact’ , one player is ahead of another using the definition of what parts of the body are eligible
Unfortunately they are trying to pretend the technology is 100% able to tell us that. But which frame are they using? The one where the passer contacts the ball, the ball leaves their foot etc
And I don’t trust their line drawing to show ‘reality’ at the exact moment. There is no way they can make decisions of mm, but they do.
Said before they should go back to the forward having ‘daylight’ between him and the defender to be offside. Then if that decision comes down to a mm you can’t really complain as you have a whole body width of tolerance to stay back.

As for Antonio the VAR should be saying that the defender has got the player and it looks like a pen. Tell the ref that because of your angle & distance etc you might not have seen what I’m seeing ... GO TO THE MONITOR
Simples

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Man City - Official Match Thread
"The 'clear and obvious ' thing is obviously bollocks. Otherwise they wouldn't be giving people offside by 0.001mm"

Factual decisions are always going to be clear and obvious mistakes , the referee saw one thing he was wrong.

They just need to sort out a standard set of operating rules, seems to me it really depends on the Ref on the pitch and in the bunker to whats interpreted or even looked at in any given match, had it been another set of officials, we may well of had a penalty today.
